Mr. Harper, I would like to take you at your word. You claim you are concerned with the manner in which parliament is doing business. The problem, as I see it, is that you simply project that of a spoiled young boy who is not getting what he wants, so he doesn’t want to play anymore.
It is possible that you have forgotten the situation you are in. You have not made
enough friends across Canada to allow you to get every thing that you want. Your government is in a Minority status and that means you NEED to play nice with others. Canada did have enough confidence in you or your government to give you “carte blanche”. So this means that Canada wants you to prove yourself before we hand over the keys. To date, you have not earned enough trust for that to happen. Based on recent polling or even polling done 6-8 months ago, Canada’s opinion of you has not changed. So why take us through this election?
It seems to me you are more preoccupied with weakening your opposition rather then really focusing on working for the betterment of the country. Again, it seems we end up going back to the theme of getting what you want. If the data holds true, when we come out the other end of this election, the country will be no better no worse. The Liberal Party however will be in turmoil once again, so I guess that means Mission Accomplished.
So here is my challenge to you and the Tory Party. Go ahead, declare an election. However, should it result in another minority goverment and we potentially have the makings of another ‘disfunctional parliament’. Then they only proper thing to do is step down and have the Tory party pay back canada for an election that was a complete waste of money. I say this for 2 reasons, 1) you called this election it did not result from a vote of Non-confidence and 2) should the election result in another Minority government then cleary you are not the man Canada is looking for to lead it.
