To all those ‘Drill happy’ folks in the US. Here is some perspective for you. Drilling in your own back yard will only add 200,000 barrels/day of oil into the market, enough fuel for one Hummer in Iraq. Better yet, you won’t see any of that new supply until 2020. Oh, almost forgot, there is no guarantee that the oil companies doing the drilling will even keep that supply on US soil. In case you need reminding, you live in a free market system.

It never fails to amaze, watching a politician stay on message, no matter how ‘out of touch’ (yes that is a shot a McCain) they may be. With all the “fun” that has been happening to the likes of AIG, Lehman Brothers, auto industry, and housing markets, McCain stubbornly keeps touting the ‘fundamentals’ of the economy. Aman-about-town points out how McCain statements are reminiscent of Hoover’s claims the morning of the Great Depression. We actually have more recent examples of ‘out of touch’ politicains. Don’t forget Bush II’s shocked look when a reporter asked him about the possibility of 4$/gallon gas.
New figures from the United Nations clearly tells me that forces in Afghanistan and the governments who lead them are clearly not that interested in winning the hearts and minds of this country. Whether it is dealing with the poppy growers or trying to take civilian casulties into considerdation, I am really finding it hard to see how current plans will be successful. Unless the actual civilians are more of an obstacle to simply occupying this land.
And now…… The quote of Election of the US election.
GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?
PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.
and this is a close second.
HOST: “Do you think she has the experience to run a major company like Hewlett Packard?”
FIORINA: “No, I don’t. But that’s not what she’s running for.”
Are you serious??? It seems as though Sarah Palin’s yahoo account has been hacked. Well folks, this has to count as a point deduction in the ‘judgment’ category. Using this type of email to conduct government business says one of two things about Mrs. Palin. Either she is attempting to hide something (See Bush Administration) or she has no grasp of the ‘internets’. Not to get off track, but if McCain dropped Palin, cuddled up to Al Gore; they could take over control of the internet and all blackberries and rule the world.
